| Hello forum, firstly---I hope you don't mind the POLITE Atheist poster on your forum---if you do just give me the boot---but your rules didn't seem to reflect that closed-mindedness I have run into on some forums. So good for you! My name is Matt, or Rev---or whatever vile nickname you want to call me when I'm not around. I am 23 years old, and a former Christian turned Atheist. I was a minister at one point in my life about 3 years ago-hence the Rev. I left the faith fully about 6 months ago, but the process took about 2 years or so, it was very emotionally draining and incredibly painful-the result though is something money can't buy-happiness. I have alot of interest in religion, I spent about 8 years studying christian apologetics like it was going out of style, I also have an interest in studying the occult (OTO, Thelema, etc), politics, and technology. I recently started up my own blog, I am trying to build it up as much as I can because I enjoy telling my story to people and having discourse with various people about various subjects---something i hope to do here as well. That website is www.ragingrev.com My intentions here are multi fold: 1: Discussion and discourse on religion and religious thought, 2: to promote the Atheist worldview to those that may not be familiar with it--in a kind way and 3: to meet nice people and make friends. I am not here to deconvert anyone or pull you away from the church, though critical thought MAY just lead in that direction. I can be alot of fun and contribute to alot of discussions if you guys are as receptive as i percieve you to be. Thanks! |

Hello Matt, I will let you post here but with a few conditions. First, no links. It is against the rules to post links that have not been approved by an administrator and I am cracking the whip on members who do that. If you want to have a blog you can make one here. Second is, if you want to promote the athiest view then you need to do it on a single thread to be posted in the debate forum. Thirdly, you must exercise some restraint, maturity, and caution in posting on other discussion threads. If everything you post is oppositional to the discussions taking place on the site then you will end up being a disrupting distraction that I will lose patience with. Lastly, I would be interested in hearing more about your story. It bewilders me how someone can go from being a Christian to becoming an athiest although I am aware it is a sign of our times. As the end of this present age continues to approach there will be many people who become athiests. I think you are ahead of your time a bit but it will happen to a lot of Christians in the years ahead. The people in your generation that are departing from faith are the start of a big, end time trend. Welcome aboard. |

| hi rick, thanks for the reply, i looked through the rules before i posted the link and didnt see anything on that (I was honestly extra diligent on that because i know it is a common rule * forums) , but i know now...I would like your approval on posting the link to my site if that would be ok though---is there any process by which i could get that? As far as disrupting the forums, I can assure you that I want to CONTRIBUTE and never take away from any discussion...i like to see and hear, and even represent multiple sides of an argument or belief as opposed to just harping over the same old arguments--no one grows like that, and we can all grow. I think I bring a perspective that few ever hear because of the REALITY that was my faith.-we can get more into that later and on your third point---i would be glad to answer any question you have...i have already posted my extimony in the testimony section of the forum. thanks again for the welcome |
