Well he thinks you have be baptized in Jesus name and speak in tongues to get saved an have the Holy Spirit so he frowns on Nazarenes an well just about the rest of 'em also. You Trinity Pentecostal I take it? of course a lot them would frown on Nazarenes too

It`s the title of a pamplet he wrote years ago and I have to confess I was pretty fascinated with it. I think I still have one of them someplace.

And of course according to the Great Bro Baxter the UPC church is the one that is right.

Yes I do Rodger but I`m pretty private about it and prefer to leave it as part of my prayer life. I don`t agree with those who make a big deal about it and consider it a requirement of salvation.

The Bible presents tongues as a gift of the Spirit and real spirituality revolves around the fruits of the Spirit not the gifts.

I wrote an essay about the gift of tongues and I`m pretty sure I have posted on the site somewhere.

My (Heart) goes for people who don't ever get filled with the Holy Spirit because they are missing so much that God has for them. But (We) must be very, very careful not (Frown) on them. Because (Gods) own chosen people are not Filled with the Holy Spirit. And they will also be left behind in the Rapture and have to go through the Tribulation period because they would not accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah. I will have to disagree with you here Joey. Recieving gifts from the Holy Spirit is relative to ones faith. If one has no faith in gifts then one recieves no gifts. You have to sow in faith to reap.

The Bible says that without the Spirit of Christ we are none of His. The evidence of the indwelling Holy Spirit are the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Christ said that we know each other according to our fruits not our abilities and not by signs and wonders which can and are counterfeited by the enemy.

The fruits of the Holy Spirit cannot be counterfeited but signs easily are and I believe this is paticularly true with tongues which the Bible declares to be a sign.

Hello Rodger,

It is the standard practice to lay hands on you and pray with you for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. That is Biblical practice as well the church tradition in all Spirit filled churches.

The Spirit is not bound by that though and there are numerous testimonies from believers who speak in tongues spontaneously
and by themselves.

Pray about it, seek it. Find a church that believes in the gift and let them pray over you. But it`s all between you and God and it`s about your own faith.

I have no doubt but that you already have the Spirit of God within you Rodger. You testify of the Spirit with your own words that you have shared with us here and I have seen nothing from you that would make me think any less then that of you.

So for you, speaking in tongues is an expansion of the faith that you already have and a deeper revelation of the God that you already know. So for you it`s different then for someone who is just coming to Christ.

Christ said that all those who seek find so it is a matter of you putting that spiritual principle to work.

Study 1st Corinthians chapters 12-14. Those passages are about the gifts.
