Default Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit?

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is mentioned by Jesus in Mark 3:29 where He states, "But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." But isn't Jesus speaking to something that is time specific to the circumstances in Mark which was that of someone accusing Jesus of being demon possessed or was Jesus making a blanket statement for all instances, in all circumstances, forever?

I do not believe that blasphemy of the Spirit or as some people call it the "unpardonable sin" is the same today. In present day circumstances it refers to a continued unbelief in Jesus Christ as Lord. It is not speaking about Jesus in a derogatory manner which is certainly sinful but not unforgivable.

John 3:16-18 says it all when it states, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." Nothing is more clear about our salvation and Jesus' love than that.

What do you think? Is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit relevant today as the unforgivable or unpardonable sin?

Q:What is blasphemy or sin against the Spirit? Can it ever be forgiven?

A:It is the refusal to ask for forgiveness, a refusal to repent. "Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, then, is that sin committed by the person who claims to have a ‘right’ to persist in evil—in any sin at all—and who thus rejects redemption" (Dominum et Vivificantem 46).

It is the Holy Spirit who convinces us of our sins for the purpose of repentance. So if he makes us aware of sin and we refuse to repent, then it becomes an unforgivable sin. Of course, if we do repent, then we can be forgiven.

"There are no limits to the mercy of God, but anyone who deliberately refuses to accept his mercy by repenting rejects the forgiveness of his sins and the salvation offered by the Holy Spirit. Such hardness of heart can lead to final impenitence and eternal loss" (CCC1864).

Blasphemy here too - Matt 12:30-31
"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Son of Man WAS rejected (by Israelites and Gentile Pilate) - although He laid down His life, No one took it from Him
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Holy Spirit is ALSO called Spirit of Truth (so now rejecting of Truth is blasphemy)
Specifically, Jesus was COMPLETELY rejected...that can be forgiven
Spirit of Truth, concerning salvation being COMPLETELY rejected is Not forgiven.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jesus said (Truth), it is Finished...he paid for ALL sins, except the Unbelief that He paid for All sins (blasphemy of the Truth...calling the Truth of Salvation a lie is blasphemy...THEY said Jesus was doing the work of Satan)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, the Only SIN that people go to Lake of Fire for is....
THEY Cling to self-righteous Pride (God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble).
SOME Of admit, I need Jesus (God) to pay for my sins - THANKS
------------------------------------------------------------------
2Tim. 2:13 -
if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself.
AFTER becoming His...ye can Not blaspheme the Holy Spirit
Heb. 12:2 and many Other verses Kick In...Like
a good work He has begun in Ye, He shall see to the end.
THIS is another, Praise the Lord bible verse...other verses are similar...
Holy Spirit has sealed us - Eph. 1:14 and 2Cor. 1:21, Soooo
even if we wanted to blaspheme Him...it is impossible...
AS IF we have temper-tamper because our favorite Pet died, so we curse the Lord and proclaim we do Not want to go to heaven Then we suicide out...We STILL go to heaven - An exaggerated example

Let us try to compare the following:

1. Sins committed against the Father is pardonable through repentance and coming back to God.

2. Sins committed against Jesus is pardonable in the same way as the Father.

3. If sin leading to blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is an unpardonable one, is the HS greater than the Father and Jesus considering that Jesus did not ever, ever say that He (Jesus) and the Father and the HS are one?

The Holy Spirit is the eternal love exchanged between Father and Son. They are all one and the same. They have no beginning and no end, so the answer is the same as what you posted on #1 and #2.

Below is the teaching of the Catholic Church.

May I know where, in the bible, did God say that the Father, Son, and the HS are all one and the same?

Default The Unpardonable Sin

[What Is The Unpardonable Sin]

..........<<>> The concept of an [Unpardonable Sin] has been a source of difficulty for many because it seems to go against the Bible's teaching about [Grace]. We understand that God's grace forgives every sin, but our Lord Jesus Christ mentioned one sin that cannot be forgiven.

The religious leaders had come out to hear Him, but they opposed virtually everything He said. As He was casting out demons, they accused Him of doing this by satanic means (Matt.12:24).

Those people were so blind spiritually that they were attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan. Furthermore, they were rejecting the Holy Spirit's work in their own lives. In essence, the Holy Spirit was saying of Jesus, "This is the Son of God. This is God," and they were saying, "He is not God! He is Satan's agent." It was then Jesus said, Every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy [against] the Spirit will not be forgiven" (Matt.12:31).

Obviously, the unpardonable sin is not merely saying an unkind thing about the Holt Spirit. The religious leaders involved had turned totally against the revelation of God. They were so far into their own wickedness that they rejected not only Jesus Christ, but also the Holy Spirit. They were saying that good was evil and evil was good. They called the (Spirit of God), Satan.

Once they had rejected Jesus Christ, the one source of forgiveness, there was now no forgiveness. A person who turns away from Jesus Christ can receive no forgiveness, and that is what these had done.

If you want to obey God but are concerned that you may have committed the unpardonable sin, you have not committed it. If anyone today has committed this sin, it would be one who is hard-hearted, who has turned against Jesus Christ, reviled Him, and become so depraved that he would claim that God's Spirit is [Satan].

The doctrine of the Trinity is encapsulated in Matthew 28:19, where Jesus instructs the apostles: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

The parallelism of the Father, the Son, and the Spirit is not unique to Matthew’s Gospel, but appears elsewhere in the New Testament (e.g., 2 Cor. 13:14, Heb. 9:14), as well as in the writings of the earliest Christians, who clearly understood them in the sense that we do today—that the Father, the Son, and the Spirit are three divine persons who are one divine being (God).
