Default Message from Jesus is Lord God

John 14:1:4

Let not your hearts be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me.
In My Father's house are many dwelling places.(not on earth But in Heaven :
If this were not so, I would have told you. For I am going away to prepare a place for you. And when I have gone and have prepared a place for you,
I will come again and take you to Myself so that where I am, ( in heaven)
you will be also will be.

God bless

Rodger, as these words were spoken to the disciples could it mean that the dwelling places are not so much individual mansions as such but communal dwellings. Of course the main thing is to believe and have untroubled hearts and to know that one day we will be with him. God bless you. Dave.

Hi Roger, and thanks for that Bible passage. You put your thoughts in parenthases. I would clarify that the "dwelling places" or "abodes" as the Greek says are in his Father's (God's) "House." His Father says that the heavens are his throne and the earth is his footstool. Jesus went to his Father's house to prepare a place (or, position) for us and will return to this earth. Here is a word picture of the place he is preparing:

(Rev 21:2 KJV) And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband....10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb...

It is coming down to earth. But the earth is part of the "heavens" and the gates are open, so we won't be locked in for eternity. It will be the headquarters of the universe.

Notice also that Jesus wants us to believe in him, just as we believe in God. His God is the Father, and is our God also. We are to believe in Jesus as the begotten Son of the One God Almighty.

Jesus is not our God

Thanks,
Duane

The divinity of Jesus Christ...sets him..as GOD. Of course he is not addressed as the Father God. He is addressed as the one..who reconciles us to GOD.Jesus Christ is God ..who came down from heaven..in the form of a man..Had Father God himself shown up..in all his glory power and splendor..The world in its sin..would have perished.God in his wisdom..came and incarnated himself as a man..who we know as Jesus Christ..our Lord..and Savior. His divinity..can be traced all the way to Genesis
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [b] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
I did not attend, any theology classes..but when I read ..let US make man in our image..I understand that God was not alone..Jesus already was..giving us the concept of his divinity as GOD
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.
3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood[a] it.

above it says...and the word was GOD...this again points to Jesus divinity as GOD
my mouth(fingers) will not allow me to say..Jesus is not my GOD!!
trying to wrap ones mind around the concept..of God the father..God the son..God the holy spirit...(only a revealing can do this)

Roger, that is a beautigul scripture passage and testimony! But I think the LORD God is the Father and Jesus is his only begotten Son. I know he said he and his Father are one, but he also prayed that we be one with them, so he obviously did not mean he and the Father are the same person, but one in character.

He also said that we are to believe in him as well as in God, so that does not say he is God too. I believe in him as the Messiah, the begotten Son of the One God, the Father. And he went to his Father's house to prepare a place for us, but it is coming down to the New Earth as the New Jerusalem, isn't it? Of course, the earth is a part of "the heavens" anyway.

I say these things, not to put you down, but just to share my understandings.

Hello there,

When reading your first quote from John 14, my mind went to John 5:23

' ... all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.'

I too believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God, and believing - have life through His Name.

For:

'.... the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.' (John 1:14)

In regard to your following verses and your comments concerning them, I believe that there are those who will inhabit the earth, and those who will inhabit the heavens, and those also that will inhabit the heaven of heavens. For there is more than one calling of God and the New Heaven and New Earth will all be inhabited by God's new creation of which we form a part - Praise God!

'He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)' (Eph 4:10)

Much more could be said on these things but that is all for now from me.

In Christ our Saviour, Lord and Head
Chris

Default God is One Person

-In the verse you quoted in Genesis, Jesus had not yet been born. The LORD God is the "God of gods" and was speaking to others in his Kingdom when he said "Us." And the word that was in the beginning with him was His word, not another person. Since the word was God, and there was only one who was God Most High, the word was the Father's.

Luke records the beginning of Jesus as begotten of the Father in the womb of his mother Mary. He is also the son of man. As the only begotten Son of God, he cannot also be God himself. God is one person.

4I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Stop contradicting Jesus and believe what He said. The pre-existence of Christ is proved by this and many other scriptures.
