ChristianCrusader - God may have "allowed" it to happen, but God did not purposely put him there. Obama is an abomination: He supports the murder of babies by abortion and he supports the abomination of same-sex unions.

My only prayer is that he will not be re-elected.

larry - That is funny, but let's read what God does say about it. I do not remember anything pertaining to this in the Catholic Church, but is there?

Romans 9:17 "For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth." You cannot say Pharaoh was a good man, but God says He put him into power.

Daniel 4:17 "This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men."

Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. Does this pertain to only who we vote in?

Jeremiah 27:5 I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.

In Jesus' name - larry

Jonnycool, we are told to pray for our leaders good or bad ones, thats subjective, you may not agree with them but you can have peace when praying for them because you are being obedient to the word of God whatever the outcome. Dave.

I no longer pray for this country or its leaders. They are either too corrupt or entangled in the system to consider the will or the good of the American people.

Instead I pray for all those who call themselves Christians.

Yin Yang Prayer For Those Who Speak Against Obama

Psalm 109

1Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;
2For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
3They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
4For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.
5And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
6Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
7When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
8Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
9Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
10Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
11Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.
12Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.
13Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.
14Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
15Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.
16Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
17As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
18As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.
19Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.
20Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.
21But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.
22For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
23I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.
24My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.
25I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.
26Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:
27That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.
28Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.
29Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.
30I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude. 31For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.

Larry posed the question of praying for the President. Do you? I don't and here's why.

While I believe that Obama is a good man, the policies of our bloated and corrupted Federal government no longer address the needs - and may I also say the will of the people. Have you written to your representatives and senators lately? How did their responses address your concerns?
How do their replies (if they answer at all) address our/your needs for adequate affordable health care, education, employment and peace? Usually they don't because they listen to special interest groups who pad their pockets rather than the American citizens (who only pay their salary).

Instead I pray for all those who are called by the name of Christ in this land. May Our Lord raise a hedge about us and guard us from the traps and hazards of life in these difficult times.

I don't.

New International Version (©1984)
I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.

You sound like a socialist richard. As far as I understand the will of American people, (I only watch Fox by the way), you sound very pinky.

I'm a socialist by the way.

john.

Mr. JohnnyCool:

Fox is notorious for its bigoted partisan view of politics and America. It does not, by any standard, measure what the people of this country need and want. Instead, it/they dictate to us the litany of the established military industrial community.

You say that you understand the will of the people. I salute you. What do we want?

Constant war?
(None of which have been legal since 1945. See US Constitution article 1 section 8.)
Massive corruption at the governmental level?
(Its just our elected boys and girls being silly again, isn't it?)
Unjust, immoral & illegal actions which include torture and imprisonment of foreign nationals without proper judicial review.
(Who cares anyway, right?)

Am I writing here about the old Soviet Union or the United States?
Can the reader guess which one or do you care at all?

Q: What's the biggest similarity between present day Russia and the USA?
A: Neither country can produce a car that anybody wants to buy.

I'm not being pinky or socialistic when I declare that our country no longer belongs to us. Most Americans are aware that we've lost our country. (See references to modern TEA parties. 'We want our country back'.)
We just aren't sure when we lost it or who is really in control these days.

"Most Americans do not understand what is happening to them."
-Pravda

It makes no difference who sits in the White House. The Democrats and the Republicans are both two heads of the same snake which, like a Boa Constrictor, has a strangle hold upon our economy (what's left of it), our educational process (that's a joke of another sort), and our liberties (most folks don't know what liberty IS or even what form of government we are supposed to have - hint: its not a democracy).

The current state of non-involvement of American citizens is shocking. Few, very few write frequently to their elected officials (if they even know who they are). None attend local political meetings of the party of their choice (but they will vehemently acknowledge their allegiance over a pitcher of beer at the local brew house or ball park). More people voted for this season's American Idol than voted for president of the US.

I can go on and on with a long list of neglect, but the bottom line here is that we are getting the kind of government we deserve and its not a kind one.

If nothing changes, our future will be determined by increasingly autocratic corporations and the fascist government which serves them (not us).

Our future can only be saved by an active and devout faith in Jesus Christ.
In Him only can we hope.

Repent ye therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that so there may come seasons of refreshing from the presence of the Lord;
Acts 3:19

I get the impression from what I have read of history that the Roman government was quite corrupt at the time Paul wrote the command to pray for those in authority so corruption shouldn't be considered an excuse to disobey the command. Have you ever considered the possibility that one of the reasons the government is so corrupt is that Christians haven't been praying for it as much as we should?
